How to Avoid Prosecution

Here is a numerical list of the process TFL will use to prosecute you.
Under each stage  we have will have suggested tips on what to do to avoid prosecution from TFL.

1. A Revenue Control Inspector (RCI) stops you as they think you are travelling illegally.

  • Make sure the RCI reads out your rights i.e. anything you do say may be used against you.
  • Take down their name
  • Record the conversation or video it.
  • They have the right to detain you if you don't provide them with a name and address. However, if you keep walking away they are unlikely to try and stop you as they are afraid they will get in trouble for assault, (one was sacked for pushing a man who was shouting and spitting food at him.)
  • One RCI was sacked because he pushed a man that shouting and him, spitting food at him was in his personal space. The man was a know trouble maker and yet the RCI still got sacked for pushing him. So they are more reluctant then ever to try and stop people physically.
2. TFL have sent you a letter informing you that they may prosecute you....

  • Coming soon...
